  i just heard this a few minutes ago by a jw friend who is still an elder in my old hall.

  the kingdom hall i used to attend and my mom still attends was paid off many years ago and serves about 6 congregations.

  one of the english congregations has a lot of financially well of members.

  Wow, the society really has some strategy going there. . . .

  First, make sure nobody goes to college so your entire membership is broke.

  Then, in the congregations where there actually is some money and the people take pride in their hall - so much so that they re-raise the funds needed to remodel it - the society takes their money and then shoves it up their asses with a bigger monthly payment.

  BTW - I think this is a fantastic strategy! 😎😜😈👍

  I only got to watch about 45 minutes or so of the feed last night. They were grilling an elder with grey hair and wearing a broadly striped tie. Is this guy the "Jackson" you're talking about? Or was GB member Jackson there and I missed it?

  Also I got the impression that he had no counsel of any kind with him. . . My wife made the comment that it looks like they hung him out to dry.

  The Australian Royal Commission hearings on the JWs handling of child abuse begins here in the US later today. It will be streamed.

  the royal commission hearing starting on monday, july 27, 2015 - australian day and date - (and it could go on until august 7th depending on how many witnesses testify) regarding jehovah's witnesses handling of child abuse is supposed to be streamed.. it could be that the hearing will only be audio not video although we were informed it will be streamed.

  we'll find out in a few hours.. i live in the central time zone of the us and right now here it is sunday, 3: 45 pm.

  in sydney, australia, it is 15 hours ahead of us.

  PROLOGOS - don't quote me on this, I'm certainly not an expert. . . but it seems that Carter was involved in some kind of proselytizing work with the Southern Baptists. . . . Really, all this information does is blow a huge hole in the idea that JWs are the ONLY ONES preaching the "good news."

  I'm sure they'd be disappointed to learn they aren't.

  Carter only admitted to doing proselytizing and said nothing about being a JW.

  Daughter of Elder Reinstated Within Months!

  a young sister in my husband's congregation who is the daughter of an elder has been reinstated in a matter of months.

  whereas another sister in the same congregation has been disfellowshipped now for nearly two years!.

  seems like it's who you know..

  Breaking news: US mass shooting

  it's getting to the point where cnn should start announcing "breaking news" if there *hasn't* been a mass shooting !.

  it's crazy.. i was watching the 70's documentary they are running and that's the point when media hype about mass serial killers seemed to begin the danger-gun-solution hype cycle.

  sure, people had guns before then but nowhere near like it is now.. when will it end?

  Well, I suppose it depends on how you define "mass shooting."

  If you consider 8 people shot and two dead (gunman included) at a movie theater in Louisiana a "mass shooting," well then it is.

  We Americans would simply consider it a really bad movie.
